Five fantastic breakfast places in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

You’re on holiday, right? That makes you entitled to the odd meal out, no? But what if you’re looking for a breakfast in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria? Don’t just go anywhere, guys. Here are our top recommendations. It’s the most important meal of the day, don’t forget.

1.) Croissantería Hermanos Rogelio

The Grupo Hermanos Rogelio have a number of establishments dotted across the Gran Canaria capital for you to breakfast at. But their Croissanteria is their specialist desayuno venue.

Canarians tend to breakfast light. The exception to that is the churro, a sturdy doughnut which is dunked into mugs of warm rather than hot chocolate. You can order them here, along with, yes, croissants.

Sandwiches are another popular breakfast choice. Vegetarians will be pleased to hear the Croissantería Hermanos Rogelio’s sandwich vegetal contains no tuna whatsoever. Which can’t be said about so many other places.

This Alcaravaneras eatery also prides itself on its fresh-fruit juices. These are prepared while you wait. For something different from the normal OJ, how about trying zumo de tunos (cactus-fruit juice).

2.) La Oliva Restaurante

This La Puntilla establishment does offer inside tables. But try and secure one outside if you can. From which you can enjoy views over arguably Spain’s most impressive urban beach, Las Canteras which stretches 2.8km to the west from its starting point in front of your eyes.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria was the original resort on Gran Canaria but noawadays the likes of Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, and Puerto Rico further south attract more tourists. So, it’s a struggle to find an English breakfast in the capital. Unless you go to La Oliva that is. Here’ll you be able to prepare for the day ahead for a full English which, of course, contains baked beans. There are different versions available however, including one for veggies.

There’s even entertainment available as this is a popular spot for street buskers. Or you can indulge in a spot of people-watching instead. As you survey the stream of punters making their way along the Paseo de las Canteras, the capital’s lively promenade.
