2 Things to do during your October holiday on Gran Canaria

For the inhabitants of Gran Canaria themselves, October is the best time of year for visiting places on the island or just for resting after the busy summer months. The beaches are at their best because you can enjoy sunny days and the Atlantic Ocean still maintains a pleasant temperature for bathing. In fact, the Canary Islands are known as the Islands of Eternal Spring, which is why autumn on Gran Canaria is mild and ideal for enjoying your holiday before having to get back to your winter routine. These days either of leisure and relaxation or of searching for new experiences and doing a more active type of tourism are ideal for stocking up on strength and, above all, on sunshine, especially for the many who have to go back to their countries of origin in Europe, countries in which there will be little sun in the coming months.

If you are coming to Gran Canaria to spend a holiday in the month of October, we can make some suggestions for activities at a time of year that is usually sunny and warm:

Theme and fun parks

Many visitors choose the last days of October because they want to make their holiday coincide with the Half-Term Break, which this year falls in the week Monday 24th to Sunday 30th October. If you’re coming on holiday with children, we recommend visiting the theme parks in Maspalomas. Both Aqualand Maspalomas and Palmitos Park provide enjoyment and activities for people of any age. Aqualand, as a water park, boasts a wide range of slides and other attractions. Palmitos Park is rated by TripAdvisor as one of the top places to visit in Maspalomas. It offers four shows for people of all ages: dolphins, exotic birds, birds of prey, parrots and parakeets. There is also a zoo which houses some mammals, an aquarium, a butterfly house, an orchid garden and a cactus garden.

An excursion to somewhere close to your holiday villa Canary Islands

With a villa rental Gran Canaria there is a wide range of activities on offer all year round. We can recommend endless possibilities for doing something different. Besides, everything on the island is close by, so you can get up quite leisurely in the morning at your villa, have breakfast on your terrace and enjoy a dip in the pool or at the beach before setting out on an excursion. One of the very best visits for a large number of tourists is Puerto de Mogán, a picturesque fishing port with a charming layout of canals dotted with flowers of many beautiful colours. Make sure you take your camera! Mogán is famous for its restaurants serving fish and other specialities. Take your swimwear along so you can enjoy a dip at its golden sandy beach.

To get around you can take either a bus or a taxi. Taxis Maspalomas has very reasonable prices when compared to average prices in the rest of Europe. You could also rent a car.
